obiter is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, including those with disabilities. We continually work to improve the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards.
Standards
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make digital content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.
What We Do
Colour contrast: All text meets the minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against its background. Error and success states use icons in addition to colour.
Screen reader support: Interactive elements have descriptive labels. Buttons include accessibility roles and state information. Form inputs are associated with labels.
Touch targets: All tappable elements in the mobile app meet the minimum 44x44 point target size.
Text readability: Body text uses a minimum line height of 1.5x font size. Content areas are constrained to readable widths.
Motion: Animations are subtle and non-essential. The app respects system reduced-motion preferences where possible.
Error handling: Error messages are clearly associated with the relevant input field and announced to screen readers.
Keyboard navigation: The web interface supports full keyboard navigation with visible focus indicators.
Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, some areas may have limitations:
Some third-party content (e.g., Stripe payment forms) may have their own accessibility characteristics that we cannot control.
Complex legal text formatting may not always be optimally structured for screen readers.
Dark mode support is system-level; some screens may have suboptimal contrast in dark mode.
