obiter is a UK law study platform operated by Jasmine Sakpoba, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom ("we", "us", "our").
The platform provides structured case briefs, statute references, legal concept explanations, flashcards with spaced repetition, practice questions, deadline tracking, and study organisation tools for university law students.
By creating an account or using obiter, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
You must be at least 16 years old to use obiter. By registering, you confirm that you are 16 or over and that the information you provide is accurate.
To use obiter, you must create an account with a valid email address and password. You are responsible for:

Prices are in pounds sterling (GBP) and inclusive of VAT where applicable. We reserve the right to change pricing with at least 30 days' notice. Price changes will not affect your current billing period.
Standard and Pro tiers include a 30-day free trial. You will not be charged during the trial period. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically begin and you will be charged the applicable rate.
You may cancel your subscription at any time through the app or by emailing us. Upon cancellation:
We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods. In exceptional circumstances, we may offer pro-rata refunds at our discretion. If you believe you have been incorrectly charged, contact us at hello@obiter.site.

You retain full ownership of any content you create within obiter, including:
By using obiter, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store and display your user-generated content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you. We will not share, sell, or use your content for any other purpose.
You agree not to:
obiter offers a referral programme. When a new user signs up using your referral code, both you and the new user may receive benefits (such as free months of subscription). We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the referral programme at any time. Abuse of the referral system (e.g., creating fake accounts) will result in account termination.
All content provided by obiter — including case brief text, statute summaries, concept explanations, practice questions, and the software itself — is owned by or licensed to us and protected by copyright law. You may use this content for personal study purposes only.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you:
Where possible, we will provide notice and an opportunity to remedy the violation before termination. You may also delete your account at any time through the app settings.
To the maximum extent permitted by the laws of England and Wales:
We aim to keep obiter available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may temporarily suspend the service for maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We will endeavour to provide advance notice of planned downtime.
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of obiter after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of obiter shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
